A lovely lady, a loyal customer from the very beginning, was telling me how great it was to be able to see a preview of the piece from our designers. After opening the preview, she felt a surge of joy and tears in her eyes as she imagined holding it in her hands.

Afterwards, she began to speak about why she was buying this particular design and what makes it so special for her. It is with her permission that I share her story in the hope that it will offer comfort and hope to anyone experiencing similar troubles.

"I had a difficult childhood since my father left my mum when I was just 2 years old; my mum worked hard even though she couldn't speak English well so that she could support us.

Every year, I felt sad during Father's Day when everyone made cards for their dads, but I joined in anyway and created a card for my uncle instead.

Every year, I tried to fill the emptiness in my heart with so many other things. I decided to look for my father when I turned 18, which mum wasn't too happy about. It took months for me to find him.

It was great spending time with him and getting to know him. He then said something that left me stunned... As a matter of fact, he told me that he was planning on introducing me to his family and my sister. As a child, I always wished for a sister but I wasn't sure how to respond. When I got home, I cried and told my mum what had happened.

My head was still spinning after what happened, so I ignored his calls and took some time to think it all through. I got a call from my sister telling me that our father had been battling cancer and that the doctors have told him it has spread, but that he could not tell me.

To cut a long story short... I didn't get to say goodbye or spend more time with my father, but I got to say hello, spend time with him, take pictures with him that I am putting on my heart necklace, and get to know my sister, who has more stories and memories about my father that she has shared with me. Though I missed him for 16 years, I now have him and those memories that I have of him close to my heart through this necklace. I even got one made for my sister as a Father's Day tribute to him."
